- 2 tbsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1/4 tsp toasted onion
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp paprika
Today I’m going to tell you how to make homemade taco seasoning and I promise you that you will never use the pre-packaged taco seasoning crud ever again. I also GUARANTEE your family will not know the difference, and it could not be easier to whip together.
You will not miss the corn starch, soybean oil, silicon dioxide, sunflower oil or ethoxyquin – what the heck is ethoxyquin? Just a preservative, and pesticide, and it has been linked to multiple health problems, oh – not to mention it’s completely illegal to add into food in Australia or Europe – nice.
This homemade taco seasoning is all natural and will store for quite a long time when stored in an air tight container – mix together and big batch of it and use as needed! Today we’re making enough homemade taco seasoning for approximately 1 lb of meat.
Directions for Homemade Taco Seasoning
Mix together chilli powder, garlic salt, oregano, toasted onion, red pepper flakes and paprika. The garlic salt can be substituted for garlic powder, just add half a tsp of salt. The toasted onion flakes can be substituted for onion powder, I used the toasted onion for my homemade taco seasoning because I had it on hand. Use this homemade taco seasoning for ground beef tacos, a rub for chicken – or check out tomorrow’s recipe for Baked Pork Tacos – which may just be the best thing I’ve ever made.
